Pedal & Paddle Wollemi Explorer
This cycle tour covers some of the most scenic countryside in the Central West. Nestled on the eastern boundary of the Central West this is part of the tablelands with the tour begining in the Capertee Valley. This area really is a hidden gem on the western boundary of the Wollemi National Park. The views up to the escarpments are simply sublime rising with grandeur from the rich fertile valley with the ride interspersed with native bushland and rural landholdings. Over the following days you'll do a loop tour out of Rylstone along well maintained back roads then head directly east to the Wollemi National Park where you'll spend two nights at our selected remote farmstay. This is your opportunity to spend the day exploring the Wollemi by foot entering the park via a private bush trail directly from your farmstay accommodation. If you book this tour with the farmstay being a weekend (or school holiday periods) you can also take off with our tour partner for a kayak paddle or a guided interpretive tour. It is also possible to incorporate this tour with the full moon event. Be aware our selected accommodation is in high demand so advanced bookings are advised.
Afternoon and Evening 8 hour event
Full Moon Evening Event
We run this tour on selected full moon nights and adhere to the actual full moon date. Paddling at night is a magical time to be out on the water at anytime but on the night of a full moon the ghostly silhouettes of the rock pagodas gain luminous definition as your eyes adjust to the night and the environment comes alive with a chorus of birds settling in for the night or others starting the night shift. We begin the tour in Kandos late afternoon and cycle directly east to Gunguddy, a ride of around 30km, arrive at the Gunguddy Reserve with time for a supplied dinner and some twilight to have you go through the Kayak familiarisation routine. Your kayak guides will then head out on the water for a leisurely two hour paddle. A highlight of the tour is when they turn off the small beacon lights at the rear of the kayaks and sit in silence bathed in moonlight. It is a moment you won't forget quickly. Once back onshore sit back with a hot chai or hot drink before we transfer you back to Kandos/Rylstone. This tour only runs on selected full moons due to other tour commitments. We promote this tour as an event on facebook so you can follow us there to keep updated or check back on our website.
